7/15/21 • Lakeland, FL • Mi Escuela Montessori, a new bilingual (Spanish and English) public charter Montessori school, is opening this August in Lakeland, Florida, with support from the National Center for Montessori in the Public Sector (NCMPS).
An article on Lkldnow.com (New Montessori School Pioneers a Dual-Language Approach) describes the innovative program: “The Montessori educational approach in combination with two-way dual language immersion will be the first of its kind in Polk County.” Mi Escuela will open with 210 children ages three through fourth grade and grow one grade each year to reach 450 children through eighth grade.
NCMPS is providing Montessori teacher training through its Montessori Teacher Residency, a unique, public-education-oriented model which situates training in the schools where teachers work and supports new teachers throughout the school year with coaching, school support, and professional development.
