Racial and socioeconomic diversity is a key part of the school’s mission, and it remains one of the most integrated schools in St. Louis. About half of its students are non-white and about 42 percent qualify for free or reduced-price lunches, a measure of poverty. Most students in St. Louis Public Schools, by contrast, qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and 81 percent are black.
David worked in private Montessori for more than twenty years as a parent, three-to-six year-old and adolescent teacher, administrator, writer, speaker, and advocate. In 2016 he began working with the National Center for Montessori in the Public Sector. David lives in Portland, Oregon.
