9/22/16 • Dallas, TX • Wesley-Rankin Expansion — Neighborhood Activists Push Back
9/22/16 • Dallas, Texas • The surprise denial of a zoning change allowing the Wesley-Rankin Community Center, an early-childhood education center in West Dallas, to extend its Montessori program to third grade, in cooperation with Lumin Education, reported here last month, has some interesting complications, according to a follow-up article in the Dallas Morning News. While many in the neighborhood support the change, some activists are concerned about the impact on the local elementary school, already under-enrolled, and would like to see the school itself launch a Montessori program if one is desired. It’s not clear how likely this is, or what the next step for Wesley-Rankin might be.
